Hi! I'm Kyndal. I'm a wife and mother living smack dab in the middle of the USA. My kids are "L" and "G". L is my rambunctious *almost* 3 year old darling girl and G is my brand new bundle of love that I call my boy-joy...cause joy rhymes with boy. Yes, I'm clever. My husband is a hardworking guy whose career blesses our family by allowing me to stay home with our children. I've always wanted to start a blog, but didn't know what I would even say, but tonight I realized exactly what I'd like to share with the world and that is, "Just Say Yes" to your children. Of course, I don't mean say yes to so much ice cream they puke (Although ice cream, chocolate to be specific, was puked upon my carpet last night. Not from an excessive amount, but from a tantrum during teeth brushing). I mean saying yes within reason. So often we get in a hurry and end up dragging our kids (sometimes literally) around. Today, I almost did that. We were leaving somewhere to come home and L spotted a grasshopper. At first I tugged her little hand towards the the car, but she tugged back and I stopped. I literally stood there for a second and thought, "Why am I about to say no to this? We have nowhere to be. There's no rush." So, I said, "Yes. Let's go look." I answered her questions about what she was seeing and then we spent 5 or so minutes hopping around like grasshoppers on the sidewalk. Then we hopped to the car and off we went. It didn't spoil her. It didn't hurt me. What I do hope it did, however, was enrich her childhood just a little. My babies are growing up too fast as it is. I can't slow down time, but I can take the time to enjoy these fleeting moments. I'll be blogging about things I say "yes" to each day and hopefully share some photos along the way. Maybe it will inspire other moms (and dads) to slow down, enjoy, and Just Say Yes to your children.
Blessings,
Kyndal
This is so, so true! I need to remember to do this more often!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to do this sometimes, thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteI struggle with this a lot. I get so focused on what I have going on that I have to really be purposeful to stop and have those little moments.
